Plot |
Frankenstein Boris Karloff stars as the screen's most memorable monster in what many consider to be the greatest horror film ever made. Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) dares to tamper with life and death by creating a human monster (Karloff) out of lifeless body parts. It's director James Whale's adaptation of the Mary Shelley novel blended with Karloff's compassionate portrayal of a creature groping for identity that makes Frankenstein a masterpiece not only of the genre, but for all time.
The Bride of Frankenstein One of the most popular horror classics of all time, and an acclaimed sequel to the original Frankenstein. The legendary Boris Karloff reprises his role as the screen's most misunderstood monster who now longs for a mate of his own. Colin Clive is back as the overly ambitious Dr. Frankenstein, who creates the ill-fated bride (Elsa Lanchester). Directed by the original's James Whales (his last horror film) and featuring a haunting musical score, The Bride of Frankenstein ranks as one of the finest films not only of the genre, but for all time.
Son of Frankenstein Praised by critics as one of the best of the Frankenstein series, Son of Frankenstein stars Boris Karloff in the role that made him a screen legend. Returning to the ancestral castle 25 years after the death of the monster, the son of Dr. Frankenstein (Basil Rathbone) meets Ygor (Bela Lugosi), a mad shepherd who is hiding the comatose creature. Hoping to clear the family name, he revives the creature and tries to rehabilitate him. His noble goals are dashed when Ygor sends the creature on a killing spree that spreads new panic in the village.
The Ghost of Frankenstein Perhaps the last creation of the classic horror film era, The Ghost of Frankenstein delights fans with its sly humor and deliciously mischievous portrayals - Lon Chaney Jr. as the monster, Sir Cedric Hardwicke as the twisted son of Dr. Frankenstein, and Bela Lugosi as Frankenstein's dutiful assistant, Ygor. Frankenstein's unscrupulous colleague, Dr. Bohmer (Lionel Atwill), plans to transport Ygor's brain so he can rule the world using the monster's body, but the plan goes sour when the monster turns malevolent and goes on a rampage.
House of Frankenstein Deranged scientist, Gustav Niemann (Boris Karloff), escapes from prison and overtakes the director of a traveling chamber of horrors. Pulling the stake of a skeleton, he revives the infamous Count Dracula (John Carradine) and commands him to kill the man responsible for his imprisonment. He then finds the frozen Frankenstein Monster (Glenn Strange) and the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr.) buried under the ruins of the infamous Frankenstein laboratory. When he brings them back to life, the Monster is uncontrollable and drags him to a watery grave. |
